    Found this while metal detecting.

It is not metal but still a pretty rare find. I eyeballed part of this sticking out of the ground so I put it in my pouch and finished my hunt which produced very little. When I met my buddy back at the trucks we showed each other our finds, then I reached in my pouch and said "I found an egg", thinking it was nothing more than a rock. When my buddy saw it he asked where I found it and did I know what I had. I told him where it was and that I didn't think much of it other than it was different looking. He said I found a Bola stone or, as some people call them, an egg stone.
I posted it on a few Native American artifacts sites and was told it was a very good find. But, no one knows for sure what their use was. It could have been for hunting, fighting or ceremonial. What ever it was used for I can now say I have one.

Did someone shape it somehow? That flat bottom is perfect for standing it up. The pics make it look iron but I know its not. Very interesting!

Yes, it was shaped by a native American. They are found in the south east.

It has generated a lot of interest. They are only found in the south east and are pretty rare.
