Yesterday's Hunt 5/26

Took yesterday off to go back upstate to hit a few sites I've been working on. Used my 6x10 DD to see what I might have missed with my 10" coil.

I was rewarded with some buttons one with the cloth still on it. I'm always amazed when this happens that the cloth has survived so long in the ground.

Dug an interesting button with the back mark W. CT * Gilt. Anyone have any info on this back mark?

Also dug this interesting non-button looking item, no idea what it is, any ideas? My heart skipped a beat as at 1st all I saw was a large round silver looking item.

A spoon bowl also turned up. I will have to hit this place next spring as the ferns & weeds made it difficult to swing.thumbnail.jpgthumbnail (1).jpgthumbnail (2).jpgthumbnail (3).jpgthumbnail (4).jpgthumbnail (5).jpg

So interesting when you see the cloth on buttons! Much better than working, right?! Was it a cellar hole? Congrats, Roger!

Thanks Drew. Yep cellar hole. I was looking at the Waterbury button website and saw a button that looks exactly like the one that I thought wasn't a button. It's called a rim button.
