Took today off from work and went back to my button house site that has given up over 100+ buttons, several coppers and other items I can't remember right now.
It took some time to get used to the sounds as well as what the display was telling me. I still have a lot to learn but was nice to get outside on this wonderful day.
I was in AT General with Sensitivity at 20-23, Threshold at 0. I was getting a lot of chatter & discovered that the Ferous Volume was set to 8, so turned it to 0.
The hunt started off with me digging a lot of shotgun headstamps, which was good as I was able to understand what the target ID # was but I really wanted to dig better targets. It's tough to get used to a new machine especially as I've been swinging my V for 10 years now.
I was finally rewarded after several hours with a nice signal in the middle of the screen & it had a circular shape on the target trace. Dug down and pulled the very small button, yes!
A couple of swings later got another good target, dug down & pulled the other button, yes!
Then a couple of swings later got another good target reading 85, if I remember correctly. This was way down I'd say at least 7-8". As we had a lot of rain the hole was slowly filling up with water, but I saw the circle shaped object and brought it to the surface. I figured a dandy button but was surprised when I wiped the mud off it to see the shield and knew I had scored a NJ copper, yea baby now we're talkin! After cleaning it saw it's 1786.
By that time, it had been a long day so swung on my way back to my backpack & score the musket ball.
The Manticore is a very powerful machine & is very sensitive. I really like how lite it is compared to the V, as my shoulders & arm was not sore & tired as it would have been.
Looking forward to my next outing with my new machine.
