1/2 gram gold nugget detector test.

I have a .5 ( 1/2) gram gold nugget and decided to test my 3 detectors. All 3 were set with DISC settings at the minimum and were tested in the same exact room and spot in the house.

The Whites M6 ( 14khz)with the stock coil set just a little past the SENS presets without chattering, and no ground balancing, saw it at 1/2 inch---Loud and clear.

The Garrett AT Pro in Pro Mode -Zero more sensitive to EMI inside the house, and setting the SENS to 2 bars instead of 6 bars,so it wouldn't chatter, and on auto ground balance, saw it at 1/2 inch-----Loud and clear.

My IDX ( 6.59khz) with 9.5 inch coil, saw it at 1/2 inch , only after setting the SENS at almost the maximum setting without chattering----Loud and clear.

The M6 and AT Pro are close to the same frequency ( in the 14-16 khz range) but in my honest opinion, outside with a good ground balance and maximum adjustment setting the AT Pro would be able to detect even a slightly smaller nugget at a slight more depth than the M6 could.

O ya thumbsup01 Got to try one! Our family likes to camp at St. parks and that would be a good simple detector to take to the beach in the water and at that price on good ring and its paid for!! Thanks for all the info.

Strung the detector in the air from the ceiling fan with some nylon thin rope. no metal within 3 feet of the detector.

Robbie my MXT with the D2 coil on it seen this 1 gram bullion in a 14K bezel at about 4 inches. It VDI'd at 22 and gave a really loud signal

Is the AT pro a threshold detector or silent search?

Can't do that! I just sent the Vision in for the upgrade. And my other babies are too young to leave home.

I wasn't sure if it was a treshold detector or not, I wonder how the MXT would do in that test?

That has more flat surface area than a 1/2 gram nugget, and would read as a larger target.
I wanted to see if any of my detectors would pick up a signal from a small piece of gold...and they did.
