    PLATED RING TEST--F5

Tested different ring sizes--ALL of them gold plated-- marked with GE gold electroplate--tested with Fisher F5 passing each ring at least 6 times under the coil for a consistant number.
Items in the ground may read lower or higher on the screen, depending on soil conditions and how long item has been buried.
The rings that VDI'd above 50 are thicker than the smaller thin sizes rings. The rings reading above VDI 60 are big mens rings--close to a class ring size.

VDI number then the karat plating and then the ring size.

THESE ARE ALL PLATED RINGS !!!!!!!

In which the base metal is unknown. NON plated gold rings will VDI differently, possibly lower due to gold being a lower conductor.

That's very interesting. It says that you have to dig every pull tab, beaver tail and all bottle caps, not to mention the pennies and dime signals, to not miss a ring. It does make sense though. Might as well have a Bounty Hunter if all you are looking for is ring jewelry, and dig it all. martin

Like your silver test showed, this test shows it ever more. If you have a repeatable signal almost anywhere on the VDI`d scale you have to dig. That is what I am doing as I learn this detecting game. My finds are mostly trash, but I have had a few rewards (clad), and hopefully I have not missed too many good targets.
