Thread: Golfers?

    Golfers?

I know Dan plays golf...anyone else? I played for 30 years then gave it up for my new hobby. So it was quite interesting to find this item. A friend thought it might be a holder for a winner's coin. It is 1 and 7/8 inches by 1 and 6/8 inches.
I also added the IH and buttons. I know what they are. Actually I don't know anything about the light colored button or the BSR button. Thank you, Drew

    Re: Golfers?

I'm an avid golfer, I've been playing golf almost as long as I've been detecting. 32 years golfing 35 detecting. I'm not sure what you have there. There are many objects that are adorned with images of golfers. Years ago the sport was played mainly by the rich so they made a lot of different types of holders ie business card, cigarettes ect. How big is this object? It looks like it has hinges and what is it made of.

The first thing that came to my mind was that it's a lid off of an old cigarette case.

It's a neat find, whatever it is!

I've played it several times over the years. Best round was 78, but the wind wasn't blowing as it usually does. You have to show a current USGA card with a handicap less than 12 to even play the course before 2 pm.

Very nice finds. The BSR button may well be the insignia of the Bangor Street Railway or the Brockton Street Railway. Here's a link to a pic of a button very similar to yours.
