Great finds Dan and congrats. Love all those old buttons. Agree the bugs are rough right now. The big brass thingy could be an connecting rod bearing for an old tractor or similar machinery, that's if you believe there was activity at the site until the turn of the century. Just guessing though.

Thanks John .
Well here are some of the other buttons , it seems all the ones in the enclosed small pen were much more damaged then the others. I suspect the reason that they were in rougher shape is because it was an animal pen (ox , cows and even horses) where they were kept for long periods of time.
even the large cent was rough
the first button is a small 15mm cuff size convex button , on it is an eagle with a shield on its chest and a block A upon it. I still yet can't find an exact size and type match.
the next is a scripted (flat) L A 1ST Regiment button 1808 to 1821
and what it must of looked like new
the last is a Scripted L A on a lined field with stars around also 1808 to 1821 Light Artillery
and what it must of look like new
despite their condition I feel very fortunate to have found them . I went from finding no early scripted military buttons in almost 15 years of detecting to finding 3 all in one hunt.
HH everyone .
