Morning hunt. Goodies and a ring.

    Hi all,
Got out to the beach for about 3 and a half hours this morning after work. Lots of the typical clad, and a fake gold pendant.

I also found a ring I'm not certain of. Detecting along the edge of the water i got a deep sketchy 12-38ish signal. About a foot down i pulled a very shiny ring with pink stones. It's gold colored, and marked .925 AU. Researching this has turned up very mixed results. One says it may be gold plated silver. But this ring has a few songs that would likely show if it was plated. Another says it's a sterling and gold alloy, probably either 10k or 14k. One other entry i found online thought it may be a foreign non-standard mark signifying the purity of gold, at 92.5%, same as sterling. It did ring up a bit higher once put of the hole, around 12-41. Love to put this into the gold find category, but will still be happy with this ring regardless. Appreciate any help on this one. Unfortunately I can't acid test it until I get back to work Wed. night.

Some makers plate silver with rhodium to make it more shiny. The rhodium starts to flake off in the ground and it makes the ring look cheap but it is still silver underneath.

No flaking here, just a beautiful shiny gold color. Heres a couple more photos with better lightning.

If it is silver, what could make it look so much like gold?

Edit: Confirmed silver. Used a dab of Tarnex and worked It hard in a small spot. It did turn color to silver. Must be a coating or from sulfide staining.

Gold plated sterling, when they use gold plating on silver , it's usually marked AU after the 925. I dug one up some years back with the same marking.
