Got out yesterday with Danny LaMontagne for some colonial cellar hole digging. We hiked for six miles and, wouldn't you know it, I made my best find at the furthest point in the hike! I found an 1845 Seated Liberty Half Dime. It's now my oldest US Silver Coin and only the second Half Dime I have found in 24 years of detecting. The previous holder of "oldest US Silver" in my collection was the 1856O Half Dime that I dug in a Confederate Civil War mustering camp about 15 - 20 years ago.
