Tiny Eagle button ID needed

Lodge Scent

Sniffed some mid-conductors out of the iron today including this little flat button. I almost tossed it into the button bucket but decided to rub the dirt off and was surprised to see the remains of an eagle with shield holding an olive branch in its talons.

I thought it might be be military but I could not find any match. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Very cool. Its definitely pre 1850 and based on what I've seen I'd say post 1812 but probably no later than 1820.

Is it brass, lead or pewter? What does the back look like? Do I see a small anchor on the shield? It could be an Official and Diplomatic Service button, but if there is an anchor on the shield it would be early Navy.
