    Or do I need to just leave it alone as I do all my buttons except one I let my partner use aluminum jelly on it.

    A little CLR with cold water handy. Soft tooth brush. Just a little scrub and than back in the water. Just my "two cents." It's a beauty.

    It definitely appears to be hiding some gilt under there. Great button!

    That button is in amazing condition! The shank is perfectly straight too. I hope some CLR and a soft toothbrush will expose the gilding.
