Rev War British 76th Officer button with a little silver plate left :)

Dug quite a few targets today, but by far the best was this button. I took a walk away from the site down near the river and it was the only thing I found!

And my day just got a little bit better. I dug a pewter which took me several tries to decipher, and finally I got it... Rev War 3rd American - New York Volunteers.

Obviously everything in this hobby is a surprise to some degree, but that one was way off the radar for both thinking it could be a decent possibility, as well as the circumstances of the moment... because it sure seemed like I was in a dead zone of the field, and for the most part I was. I was in this same field briefly over a decade ago, we checked it fast, didn't get much and left... so glad both the button and its great condition waited for me.

That's a nice find. I wonder why, tho, it looks like it is two piece from the back. Obvi I found other pics online, and those are more evident. Saw something about the 76th being called MacDonald's Highlanders Started in 1777, but landed in NY in 1779.
