    Spanish silver

I was going to say "Surprise Spanish Silver" but I shouldn't be surprised anymore with my new Deus. It continues to impress me as a good all around detector. I only had a couple of hours this morning so I made the two minute drive and hit the pounded cellar hole again just 5 minutes from my house. I programmed the Deus for deep hunting and hit a relatively junk-free area at the back of the site.

I got a peep of a nice tone that was repeatable and decided to check it out. To be honest, it had a bit of iron buzz to the tone and I thought it was deep iron and almost passed on it. And the signal didn't improve even after a dug about 6 inches. But in the end I was rewarded with a 1742 1-reale. It was deep! Probably the deepest silver I've ever dug (not that I dig a lot).

Ran into a snapper turtle on the way out. She was wearing her swamp finery and didn't look too pleased I disturbed her egg laying.

Crossed paths with a garter snake too. Lots of those this year it seems.

    Stay safe!

    Jeff

Excellent Jeff! Goes to show you need to dig everything that could "possibly" be good at old sites like that. Many times it could be iron, but sometimes... Way to go.

Surprising might be how the silver was deep at a cellar hole site. I don't think much landscaping was done at those type of sites. But it does happen from time to time I guess. Nice silver tho. It's really great shape. You caught a glimpse of a turtle, I did before too. Must be that time of year in NE for it.
