4 Solid Days of Metal Detecting!

    Hey Diggers,

I had the opportunity to travel up north and spend a few days detecting with Digger Don. We hit several small towns in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. Some places we did well and others not so well. I even got to meet up with some of the Chicago guys (Tom Hiluxyota & Dave 219erman) at one of their famous Chicago parks where lots of seated coins have been found. Thanks Tom and Dave for your hospitality and for taking me to a most awesome pizza joint! I had a great time this week and Don is an excellent host! Thank you Don for taking time off from work and showing me around. Here are some pics of my better finds.

Thanks for looking and HH, Dave.

Actually I found 6 but gave one to the home owner. After digging 6 of them, Don and I switched sides of the yard and he found 11 more in the same general area!

Thanks Drew, yes it is the top half of a silver and onyx ring that had a bad encounter with a mower. Don't be sorry about the pizza, it was AWESOME!

As always Dave, it was great getting together with you. I definitely had a lot of fun even though the finds weren't as plentiful as we had hoped.
Congrats on your first Chicago Park Silvers. Anytime you can pull 3 silvers out of a hunted out park, it's a good day !!
not to mention six 1700s Chinese coins out of a front yard! I'm glad you had a good time too!!
I'm already looking forward to our next get together.

    Lots of cool finds, Dave!

The toy lead figure is interesting. I wonder if it's supposed to be a Boy Scout? It doesn't really look like a soldier. Nice find!

The watch fob is cool too. Lots of people of Polish decent in the Chicago area.

I wonder if someone gave those Chinese cash coins to their kids to play with? What an amazing spill of really old coins!

    Lifetime totals:
9 Large Cents, 415 Indian Heads, 2 Two Cent Pieces, 1 Capped Bust Half Dime, 1 Seated Half Dime, 10 Shield Nickels, 68 V Nickels, 124 Buffalo Nickels, 31 War Nickels, 16 Seated Dimes, 131 Barber Dimes, 405 Mercury Dimes, 249 Rosies, 4 Seated Quarters, 18 Barber Quarters, 19 Standing Liberty Quarters, 89 Silver Washingtons, 1 Seated Half, 3 Barber Halves, 16 Walking Liberty Halves

Nice to get to hunt with you again Dave. Next time we will try a different section of the park , or a different one where I had luck. But the one we were at is where I found the most seateds. And there's still more in there... Glad you were able to pull some chicago park silver. Next time will be seateds for us.
