went back up to the site I hit yesterday.stayed for 4 hours and worked it slowly. Frank I thought ya cleaned this place out dude? i'm kiddin Frank,it's definitly the ground conditions not you & your DFX. I firmly believe that these signals are hiding amongst the iron and with the ground so dry,the signals are jumping out over the iron.
I started in a wooded field away from the cellar hole and 2 mins into the hunt my coil catches the edge of the bell just sitting as you see in the 1st picture.a good start! ;) worked my way to te cellar hole lip again.a few buttons,a civil war general service cuff button,a zuoave ball button & a colonial copper.not sure what it is?this signal I passed up yesterday as it was chattery but today decided to dig it.alongside it in the hole was a chunk of coal.i don't know about you guys but coal is detectable on my machine.glad I decided to dig it.back is smooth and front looks to be a KG? the other King George II is pictured for size comparison.the coin I dug today is slightly smaller in diameter than the KGII.ran my coil over it and it reads low solid 36 on the VDI,a counterfiet I imagine.
this brings me to 48 large coppers on the year now

Great finds! Another great hunt, congrats! I am surprised with all the coppers that you pull out of the ground you don't run in to more Spanish silver, whats your lifetime ratio coppers to Spanish silver? Never really thought about that until now, so figured I would ask.

Merc and I pounded a site this past winter....we spent hours in a small pen surrounding the cellar hole. We stayed there because it kept giving up coins. When we thought it was finished we moved on. I went back there the other day and pulled a wiped copper, a presidential token, merc, buff, and an ax head. I think there is something to the dryness quieting the iron. Although half of my finds were due to clearing some mulch up. 48 already?...wow....seems even better than last year for you. I smashed my last year's total the second week of January lol

Dave, another great hunt. 48 coppers is great, do you think that you can beat last years total? Love the bell and buttons also. It seems that all your sites continue to produce.
