Took the T2 LTD to a path behind and old farmhouse I have literally pounded the heck out of.... I stopped finding stuff there months ago. This is the stuff I ended up finding tonight when the rains stopped. At first I thought the button was a coin because the shank is busted off and smoothed over...:

Yeah :yes: It probably would've had me thinking coin too :drool:
But a old button is a nice find too.

Are there any backmarks that can be made out? Or is it too smoothed over ::huh::

Something is on the back. Gonna' have to hit it with a little electrolysis to get the crud off....

ya those older flat 1820's type buttons can fool you a lot when they have their shank broke off :hairpulling: as they are about the size as thickness as an indian head penny >:{ . the pewter spoon looks pretty old though and the lantern part could have a patent date on the face of turn knob.

Really? I looked at it under a loupe and it appears to be a 6 not an 8. I could be wrong... I couldn't find anything on the company when I looked. Is 1670 too old for that item?

It would not be unusual to find something from that time frame in the area I found it. A good portion of my area dates to the late 1600's - early 1700's.

yes i don't believe they had patent laws in this country that go that far back :yes: plus it would be much more crude looking and all hand done . if you look at the parts they all look machine stamped copper or brass.
