Today was an absolutely fantastic day. OxShoeDrew and I started out lousy but ended with what we believe to be a virgin cellar hole. So I text Drew in the morning to see if he wants to hunt. We pick a new cellar hole deep in a wooded area, and start out. We start hiking in through dried up swamp and a tremendous overgrowth of wild rhododendrons. It was so dense we were using deer trails to navigate our way through. After at least an hour of hiking we still had not found the hole or even saw any stone walls for that matter. We decide to head back to civilization without ever putting our coils to the ground. >:/ After another half hour hike back through the thick stuff we came upon the trail we first started out on. There were 2 holes in the area so we figured hey were not to far from the other one. Another 20 min hike down the trail to nothingness. By this time we were exhausted already and haven't even started to swing. A 20 minute hike back to the truck. >:# We noticed a cellar hole on the way to look for our first pick. It didn't look promising. Kind of to modern looking some structures still in tact but the house was gone leaving the cellar. Drew did pretty well there I'll let him tell you in his post what he found. I hated it and wanted out.
We got hungry and stopped off at a hot dog stand. While there we were looking for another spot to try in the area. I said hey lets just go down that road and see what's there I was hoping for possibly a back entrance to the first hole we were looking for to begin with. On our way I noticed another cellar hole right off the road, we decided to get out and start swinging. Good thing we did. In less than a half hour we both had coppers. Mine was 5 inches down and came out toast. 2 coppers so far, nice. We tooled around some more and I got another nice signal, yup another copper. 1838. Woohoo now were havin fun. :happydance01: Three coppers sweet. We decided to call our buddy SafariScott to see if he wanted to join us. Scott has led us to some nice spots and finds in the past. He said he would be there in about an hour. We took this as a perfect time to take a water break while we waited for Scott. Heading back to the truck to get some much needed rest and water, Bam I get another hit. Dig down seven inches and say hello to KGII. 4 coppers unbelievable. Scott arrived and we all worked around the area. In the distance I hear Drew say I got another one. :omg: 5 coppers in just a few hours. After an hour and a half with Scott, Drew and I decided to take off we were exhausted. Scott stayed for a bit longer and I got the call shortly afterward he got one too. 6 coppers today What a day we had. There are some pretty cool relics to boot. Pewter spoons, buttons, I got what we think is a plumb bob, right near the well. The other day I posted my first Draped bust the next day I found another one lol that one is in my pics as well for a total of 5 coppers for me in 3 days. Stellar outing with good friends nothing beats it. Thanks for looking HH

 Wow ! Great Job Guys. Love that 1838 LG Cent. How's the backside now? The front looks perfect. I wouldn't mess with the Patina at all. Also, the KG 11 is real nice, nicer than I've seen in a while. They say one side is always better than the other so it's to be expected. I guess cuz the front gets the stronger strike ( on machine made anyway). On the Colonials I think it's which side is facing up or down. I find the down side to be usually better. Not sure about the one's on edge though except when it has to do with me being lost in the woods and have to YELL Dan, where are you!! :hysterical: I get lost so easily in the woods. You can go miles in the woods and not find not much and hit a hole near the road and hit it big. It's crazy !
Love those old spoons and forks also. The pewter are so heavy, no? I swear it's so much better with at least 3 guys hunting a new site. You said this was by the road also? That's great. some of my best finds have been at so called hunted out sites. Everyone just passes on by. :congrats: again !!
Now where was that you said ? LOL

The backside is nice as well. The pewter spoon is real thick and heavy. I'm pretty good in the woods and rarely get lost. You just can't panic when your not in familiar territory. As far as the site we hunted. It's over by the big oak tree rofl
