Cast Iron pipe

I have a friend who is having problems with his septic and needs to know where a cast iron pipe is located. Can the e-trac detect cast iron at what I would assume would be at least two feet down? I'm thinking that it may be too deep even though it's large.

Bob your up in NH , yes:huh: if so that pipe could be more like 48 or 4ft deep due to code and has to be below the frost line in which case the etrac won't find it .

Yes, that is correct. I am in NH. I did try and was not able to locate the pipe. The backhoe ended up digging a long trench until it found it which was as you expected down just short of 48 inches.
