View Full Version : Rescued one from the briars

Went back to a well hunted site with a buddy this past weekend. The only spot I really hadn't detected in previous trips was a patch of briars. I waded in to the tangle and after an hour of hard hunting was rewarded with shredded legs and a Large Cent (1833 Matron Head).

Briars were a little thick but I could kick the vines out of the way get a bit of swinging room.

Awsome job Lodge Scent. What ever it takes to get the job done...I would have done the same. Your efforts paid off nicely :congrats:

:congrats: Wow ! That is a Cluster.... you know what. But it paid off and I'm sure there's more. What you need and I'm serious about this is a Machete. Put on some gloves, long sleeves and whack away ! It might be some work but no one said Detecting is a easy Hobby. I've found some of my best finds in pricker bushes, under pine tree branches and under fallen tree branches. A 1870 Shallow IH, 1856 three Cent, a Belt Buckle and a Fugio Cent to name a few. So get out that Machete and you'll increase your find ratio.

I do the same thing while hunting in the woods. :yes:
Gotta flip over all the logs, and kick away every branch and stick you can, to cover as much ground as you can! thumbsup01

Since it has been about 28 years since I have found a large cent, it would be totally worth it to me! :yes:

Jeff , the briars are one of the more productive areas for me because lets face it people for the most part are lazy and would rather hit the easy swinging spots and avoid the tangles or areas you really have to work for your finds. well done |:cheering:
