View Full Version : Audio Issue with 3030
Maybe I'm just missing something...
I had not noticed this before, but generally I have my headphones on when I turn my machine on. However, the other day a friend of mine wanted to check out my 3030, when I turned it on, I noticed I could hear the external audio as though the headphones were not plugged in all the way. Then this weekend it did it the whole time I was detecting, and it brought unwanted attention in the park.
So its giving the audio both externally AND though the headphones! 8/
has anyone else experienced this? Is it just a setting I can change? :dontknow:
And YES George...I am technologically challenged

Rob, minelab designed it that way. You have to buy minelab headphones or specially modified gray ghost or sunray headphones. Proprietary $$$$, tbats the word. Holy, custom chip Batman!!!!

No way John, seriously!!?? I would have to buy new Grey Ghost and Killer Bee headphones to use with the 3030? (I have two expensive pairs of each).

with the wireless module you can use any headphones, it is just when you hook up direct to the machine otherwise it works fine

The reason headphones don't work on the Minelab directly, was talked about and what I gathered was that Minelab was keeping up with industry standards and the headphone manufactures were not. Don't know if that is true or not, but that is what I heard.

You mean the not so wireless setup.....just what I need..one more thing to add to the belt, then plug my headphones into...
No, I have not been, but apparently I need to, and that will solve this issue >:#

I don't like wireless headphones, if those that came with the v3i are typical.

I'm a big fan of the 3030 wireless headphones |:cheering:
Rob, all the above info is on the spot. Any headphones work with the wireless, but you need the supplied Koss or the new GG to work directly in the jack.

They are not truly wireless...
There is a receptor that you clip onto your belt, THEN plug the headphones into that...it just doesn't plug directly into the detector itself. You still have a cord from your headphones. >:#

Yes, that is true. BUT you are not tethered to your machine and I like that a LOT |:cheering:

I agree about the V series wireless headphones Epi.
I can tell every time someone turns on or off their Whites V. :hairpulling:
Other than that they do perform well, John.

I just picked up a ctx3030 and I was having the same problem with the dual audio when I would hook up my Black Widow Headset. After doing some research, the solution is easy to fix. I got a stereo to mono 1/4" plug at radio shack and problem solved. I was lucky and picked it up on clearance for 14cents so that tells me ratshack is probably phasing them out so hurry up and buy them.
