I'm brand new to detecting and the posts here are so informative. I'm hoping to get my own machine this year. I have friends up in the Cumberland Valley who keep inviting me to go with them, and others down in the Shenandoah Valley with similar invitations. I think I'm starting to get the bug!

Once you go, it's over  You will love it, but remember to balance detecting with the other two (work and spouse) ;)

forget the balancing act , just kidding. Very fortunate that you have friends already detecting. They will be a great source of information. Hope you can get a detector shortly.

Welcome! Take your friends up on the invites, sounds like fun. Talk to them about the the detectors they are using, maybe you can try one out, and get an idea of what you want. Also the guys on here always ready to help with excellent advice.

Welcome and good luck picking a detector. Glad to see you have some friends to help you along, I wasn't that lucky, but I think it worked out better that way because I was able to learn my machine at my pace, along with trial and error. Safe & HH
