I found this near a large creek that runs into the Green River here in KY. Any thoughts on what it might be? I haven't had much luck finding anything online. 3822238223

It kind of looks like a modern reproduction of an ancient Greek coin, but it's rather odd that you found it where you did.

I wasn't sure (and still not) if was even a coin. The creek has a few prehistoric shell mounds on it. I was hitting the areas in-between them where houses used to set in the 1800's. It's a couple of miles to the nearest paved roads now. I wish I could find a photo of something like it with a description.

If you would have said Scottish, I would have to believe it could be real. During the mid 1800's a Scottish fellow brought several people from Scotland to mine iron ore near this spot. If it is a Greek coin I would have to agree that it's a reproduction. I wonder how and why it was where it was at? Maybe the arrowhead hunters are playing tricks on detectorists. :shocked01:

I agree with Tony the patina looks wrong for an ancient coin , what is the metal?? brass , copper ??

looks like it was cast too. Porous surface and is that a line running up the sides of it or just a shadow?
