I finally got the change to meet this crazy English buggah yesterday. Lol. Lee, Jk, you are just as sane as I am. After work I headed down to meet him. As soon as I got close I could see all the colonial style houses and knew it was a historical section. I would say fairly good place to hunt. Lee showed me his finds and he has quite a bit. We then went for the hunt. It was about 15 min before I got a hit, but just a Lincoln. Lee got the oldest coin, a wheat just a little bit after. Only a few more pennies found but quite a few relics. Lee found a nice lion ring and the other flashy thing was a bike reflector. He didn't realize how old the tootsietoy cast cars were until I told him the piece to what he found. I found three pieces to a cast toy gun with ornate design on the cartridge. Lee found a strange piece we cannot identify. In the pic of his finds, there is an arrow pointing toward it. (as well as a smaller arrow pointing toward the piece of toy car). It looks similar to a belt clip for ammo, but each piece looks like it has a spring. There was a tag I pulled up. Lee thought harmonica reed, then retracted. It wasnt until I cleaned it that I saw the number "41". In that same pic, there is a button. Maybe as old as the one I pulled on Saturday from the town farm. The back has some patina, and the front which is visible has some black spots. Not sure if it was painted black, or plated and the plating turned black. The ring, you can tell those are not Lee's hands holding it. Lee is still digging in the pic.
There are two pics of what I dug up and maybe someone can confirm. We think it was the section between powder chamber and handle of a pistol. At first I thought it looked like it was a dog bone. Then the threaded piece sticking out, I thought odd shapped bell. He was the one who suggested a piece to a pistol. The close up shows a rectangular chamber, and the V shape to the metal. As well, there was a piece of obsidian I got lucky to find. In one pic there is an arrow to distinguish it from the counter top, with the button below it. I was digging a larg signal, which turned out to be some sheet metal at 12-14", but while digging I found the stone. It might be part of an old arrowhead. Or just lucky to find obsidian in CT with the closest volcano being located in either Wyoming or Arizona.
Lee, thank you so much for having me come along and meet with you. Looking forward to get back out with you. And thanks to the house owner, Sue, for letting us detect there.
