Saturday morning I was up and on the road by 4:30 am to meet the boys and i was down in the area by 5:45 so i stopped at a local DD for some coffee . i take the keys out of the ignition place them on the console to retrieve a few dollars form behind the visor and you guessed it proceeded to lock the tahoe with the keys in the car.:hairpulling::bangahead02::mad: (boy am i an idiot sometimes ... well a lot because i'd be lying if i said i rarely do this :lol:). luckily the window was crack down just an inch or so and the clerk at Dunkin had , you guessed it a wire coat hanger (oddly they don't usually serve them with the number #4 ) so i was able to just to grab the keychain with the hook and retrieve it to hit the unlock button :bananadance::happydance02: .

Todd and Dave meet me at the appointed place we pile into my car to the site . we then hike the mile to mile and a half in passing one site we will come back to after. The site Todd had picked out was out there and a great looking area but the finds were very meager and already hit very well . after a few hours all i had was a small suspender buckle and a very small piece of a brass drawer pull plate  . we did hit a couple other sites and along the way i pulled up a nice shoe buckle frame

and a braided hair copper

and a couple of buttons one was an interesting designed that had us all perplexed and standing in the middle of the street to get some sunlight on it to see.

every find was "hard earned" these sites were all hit pretty well but it was a great fall day to be out with friends and the best part was no one was violated by insects :cheering:

all of the finds for the day .

the design on the buckle

I guess that its a lucky thing for you that the wire coat hanger was invented.....

Some very nice finds. I can see the three of you out in the middle of the street debating about button.:hystericallaugh:Great looking shoe buckle frame.

A nice hunt with friends and not being violated by the bugs....priceless.

Looks like you had a great hunt once again. Nice finds.
I love metal detecting, but the hikes you guys have to make, makes me out of breath just thinking about it.
You are definitely dedicated. ( and probably in shape) LOL

I appreciate all the replies everyone , Thanks :notworthy:

How'd that braided turn out?

Drew , the copper was in rough shape and I knew it had some serious damage from being in the ground for so long . you can tell when you get it out of the ground and you already see the reddish tones or the exposed copper where the protective patina has been undermined by the elements . the front especially took the brunt of the damage . you ca see in the before and after pictures .

the button was just a fancy floral pattern button what threw Dave , Todd and I were the 6 pointed stars around the rim which usually suggest patriotic or military types.
