Joe and I headed up to a old hometown cellar hole.In previous hunts this site has given up a few coppers and a colonial gold ring. some overgrown areas and a lot of iron made this a frustrating site in warm weather so,with winter upon us I thought it may cough up a few more goodies.
Targets were very sparse and for 6 hours we dug mostly iron. a nice old spoon on the cellar hole lip a large plain colonial button off the side of road and behind the cellar hole a area that was covered pretty well in previous hunts i got a deep faint button reading at 8 inches.kicked a few inches of leaves off and pinpointed at 6 inches a 1840 William Harrison Cabin Campaign button.hard to make out back mark and shank is gone but front has almost full gilt left.a few buddies have dug em But,I never dug one of these so,it was nice to add this to my collection.
