I found this today and haven't the slightest idea what it is, anyone have any clues? I really couldn't find a date or where the date should be.

It looks familiar but I can't place it. Can you make out any of the writing? How big is it?

Tony I did find out that it's a French coin a 5 centimes approximately middle 1800's.

Nice find even if it is a bit worn. I recall finding a few French and Italian coins that look very similar so understand the confusion between the two. It makes it a bit more difficult to ID a coin when the details are gone! LOL Congrats ;-)

That's pretty cool. Any idea why it might have been where you found it?
