...the coins and the relics mean I could put this in either category, but why not the relic thread given better of the finds.
During the week I went down to an old area. There is a camp nearby and I was kinda forced to walk a long way to the camp and see the trails. The site I wanted to hit was a 226 acre lot with two cellars on it. Maybe with some more effort I can reach those site. I went though the street very hastily and tried the fields. Most of the fields had piles of rocks in them, which means they were being prepared to be utilized, but weren't actively used. There weren't much even in the way of iron in those fields. Somewhere in the field that was used a little more extensively, I did get an ox shoe. In the street there was a tag for a Ford. Seems it E87A correlates to a transmission assemble. That's all I could get for info. There were a few bullets and even got the tip of one. Given the area, it is surprising there would be any bullets.

Saturday was more eventful. I was intending to ask at an 1811 house which also has two cellars in the adjoining property owned by same person. After the long drive I had to go into the woods for a bit, so I hit a cellar nearby where the centennial buckle came up. It was kinda chance I found this spot. It was hit before, but not hard. Somewhere near the walkout from cellar I got a buckle. There was a slight hill side after a retaining wall where I got a buckle and another darn ox shoe. In the hole with the buckle was some leather which ended up in the trash as I didn't separate it from the rest. It was probably a small horse tack as the leather had a few nails in it. Down a little further, near the lower rock wall, was a flatter area. It was hiding a lonely Indian. Came up with a nice 1887 with some good detail. I have to hit Walmart to get more H202 as I ran out. I did try to scour a bit more, even by the old trench dug with old stone blocks but nothing much came up.

I did go back up the road to the 1811 house. There was an SUV parked out back and the doors were open and the dogs came out of the house barking as I pulled in. I knocked a few times and tried to announce my presence but no one came to the door. It is possible he was just up the road to the neighbor's as I drove up the dirt road just to scout out at least while I was there. There was someone outside at the other house (which owns an adjacent property with a filled cellar). I did see his hand near his face when I drove by, staring at me. I am unsure if he was playing with his moustache or giving a nasty gesture. The far property, tho, I will have to write to the owner (which is a company) to access the property with yet another hole. So, I decided to ask at a 1790 that was at the next intersection back the way I cam into town. Seeing a few outside lights on and the garage door light on I was thinking I just missed them. Turns out they were home. I don't think she liked me asking her by knowing her name (the assessor card has the owner's name which is how I knew, but maybe she didn't realize how I knew). She gave me the "we do that ourselves and we KEEP ALL our finds." oh well, moving on. The adjacent spot is a school I hit before with little luck. It is a school built in the 30's on a property that was once an 1800's house. I did get some strange looking buckle. Long and it looks like it is steel or nickel plated, but it was in back by the stone walls. Just out front of the school by an older tree I squeaked out a wheatie. It's not cleaned enough to be exact, but I see 192x. The other neighbor in the 1800 house asked if I was broke down, then talked a bit. He's quite old and has owned his house since '67. I do think I heard him say I was ok to do his property, but how old people don't annunciate I didn't chance it. He mentioned how his yard was not 'touched' and machines are better technology in the past 20 years. I walked over to the green. Unfortunately it seems either hit or filled in. There were a few erratic signals I didn't dig because there was a power line somewhere for the light by the flagpole.

Since I was there, I decided to go up the road to find a spot I had my eye on. The last sale on the property was in 1883. Of course I had to drive by these nice old houses. Two had people outside so I should have stopped to ask for a permission to return. After driving by and finding the place was a closed camp I found a parking spot. People take their dirt bikes there apparently. There happened to be the cellar right near the parking area. Again, it was hit before but it wasn't hit hard. There were a bit of bottles from the 30's there, the place was probably used for dumping around the prohibition time. One of the large iron piece that fooled the machine actually lead me to a nice small bottle with either corn cob design on the lower corners or a fleur de lis design. Somewhere out front of the cellar I got a nice piece. It looks possibly plated and it is heavy. There are two iron tabs on the back. It is either a brooch, or Kevin suggested it might be the honcho on a horse reign. Being heavy and tacks on the back might make it so.

Sunday we went to the club hunt at the beach. The early morning I tried making a home-made sifter. Two can be made for under $20. I just need to add a bit more holes to it. Lol. I'll prob put a thread when I am done making the second one and improve the first one. OTW we stopped at a friend's house. It is listed as 1915 but the foundation is brick. I am sure it is just a rebuild date. There wasn't much time spent there. In the front yard I was getting ridic EMI with my machine so I moved to the back. I could have taken out the other machine but I just decided to move. in the far back I managed to get a wheat from the 20's and a harmonica reed. At the beach, someone got lucky with a set of silver earrings and someone had a silver bracelet and one a ring. I only got a few clad, which one darn quarter just had to be 1965. ugh. I think I got the oldest find at the beach with what I didn't realize at the time was a slide for a bathing cap. You don't quite see those at the beach anymore. I am unsure the anodized piece and the tiny piece might be a pop rivet.

Yesterday we got a permission at a newer house. The property actually has a ton of stone walls and a cellar hole. They thought it was a hunting cabin site, but once we saw the stone work around the hole we told them it was definitely a cellar hole. There is no way a hole would be dug and stone work used for a hunting cabin. Across from the hole there was a massive tree. A stone that sat over the hill I decided to check near. Pulled up my first dandy button. I thought it was flat, but after a few wipes, the design appeared. It still has the shank too. Finds were scarce at this place. It may have been attributed to lack of understanding the layout or from masking. There were a bunch of old tobacco cans everywhere and a lit of large iron. We need to check the old aerial and overlay the old map to new roads to further understand the place and which fields were utilized before we go back. At a far corner of the field which has no trees, I found just the chappe piece. I tried checking around it but didn't find the rest of the buckle. In the far woods there was even a double wide wall and a strange 20 foot jog. Once we called it quits we showed the few finds. They were shocked to know the property had some 1700s activity on it.
