Nice going southpaw.

Rocks , hammers ! individual caps with a hammer got dull real fast soon we were hitting whole rolls at a time with the hammer !

It says Bobcat on it, has a lot of wheat designs carved or "casted" into the aluminum. From the 40s or 50s from what I can find on the Internet. It is broke on one side, not worth anything. But ... At least I got a better idea about how old anything else is ... if I find anything else.
Its surprising but you can find cap guns even on some of the oldest sites . For example , I was detecting one of the oldest recorded battle sites in America when I found a couple toy guns  kids will play just about anywhere .

I remember those cap guns. The ones that held the role of caps were the best. Keep digging and posting, love the old toys.
