I usually like to hit the trail early but it was just TOO COLD this morning. So I waited to about 09:00 before I ventured out. By then it had warmed to a toasty 20 degrees but the wind was still howling. It really wasn't bad though once I got in the woods. 5 layers helped. 6 counting the backpack :)
Revisited a couple old cellar holes.

The relics to the left are actually from a few weeks ago. Managed a broken ornate knee buckle frame, thimble and buttons. Today's catch is on the right. More of the same. Broken shoe buckle frame, thimble, buttons and an 1817 Matron Head.

A little chilly but it felt good to get out.
Jeff
Wow Jeff , Kuddos to you for braving the cold and windy :notworthy: I wanted to but had some things to get done today and by the time I was free it was very late in the afternoon :girlcry: Your button is a nice one and congrats on the copper :cheering:.

I have to admire you folks up north who brave the elements to hunt. I don't like it when the temp drops below 50. I just don't do cold weather!!

Dan and Chris, it wasn't bravery.....it was desperation

Fyrffytr, I am just the opposite. Once the temps go above 50, I start to melt and yearn for the colder weather ;)
I didn't even think about going out! :frozen: Nice haul Jeff!
Drew, that's only cuz you get out several times during the week. :envious:

Reb, I do hope those finds appreciate the nice warm home I've given them.

Very nice Jeff! I admire your tenacity to brave the chill. I don't do cold weather unless it's above freezing. Congrats on some more nice relics and the LC. Looks like it's the 13 star variety, only reason being the one star at at 11 o'clock points at the tip of Liberty's crown.

I was wondering how many stars John. Thanks for pointing that feature out.
I find it hard to believe that someone who lives in the Northeast Kingdom won't venture out unless it is above freezing

Nice finds, Jeff. Grats on the LC and the buttons. Great when you can revisit sites and pull stuff out. This is where I say I need a new machine to revisit sites. :daydream: It was weird how on Saturday I had 2 T-shirts on, but it seemed my arms were colder on Sunday when I had same amount of layers, but swapped a T-shirt for a long thermal. Idk... maybe some Bernoulli phenomenon where the faster wind creates an area of lower pressure around you so that it blocks the wind from entering the holes between the threads?

This says it all. I'm trying to save my vacation time for warmer days to get out and detect so for the time being I am having to deal with the colder crappier weekends.

Thanks Jim. I don't know the science behind it....all I know is that cold is cold . Besides the 3 shirts, a jacket and a vest, I had a pair of rain pants on over my jeans to block the wind. I think that really helped keep me toasty.
