View Full Version : New machine in September

I was just reading some articles about Minelab unveiling a new machine next month in England. Apparently Brandon Niece (Dr Tones) is field testing one now. In his latest video it's mentioned but he says he can't show it yet. But from the hype it's supposed to be a game changer. I've also read about a patent Minelab filed in 2016 about a new technology where they use a magnetic field generator. Hoping it's something good and not a POS like their gold monster.

Whatever it is it needs to be lighter. The Etrac and CTX are high end machines but also high in weight.
I know of a few people who have gone with other machines bc of the weight of minelabs.

im looking forward to it!

I agree with the weight issue as well, especially the CTX with the 17 inch coil. Love the capabilities, ground coverage, depth and sensitivity to even the smallest targets so I deal with the weight. But swinging that big coil over a beach or field for 8 to 12 hours at a crack is a killer.

Well it's here. The Equinox! It's light, wireless, submersible and the MOST surprising thing it is affordable! I heard $650 to $900 depending on the model! Hmmmm.

Brandon Neice just posted a Facebook Live video showing the Equinox. I'll see if I can link to the video here.

So I have a question on the EQUINOX 800...

EQUINOX 800 USD $899
6 Frequency Options (5kHz, 10kHz, 15kHz, 20kHz, 40kHz, Multi)

The 800 has 5 selectable single frequencies. Is the Multi option using all 5 Frequencies? OR Can you choose what frequencies you want to use 2 to 5? OR is it preset to specific frequencies?

I am very interested in the (5kHZ, 10kHz, 15kHz) combination. This is what the Spectra V3 should have been from the beginning. (Would have avoided all the coil issues.) This, in my opinion, would be the perfect range for older American coins.

Anyone hear of the Processor (CPU) speed this detector uses? It must be much faster than any previous detectors. The price is right on these machines!

Very exciting to have an affordable detector like this on the market. I currently own an E-Trac which has been the best functional detector I have used to date. The Whites Spectra V3 is still my favorite because of the programability, and the crazy depth capabilities, but it just does not hold up to the E-Trac in performance in finding coins in the trash, which is where they are hiding these days. I am ready to jump on this Minelab EQUINOX 800 Detector though! Which means I will have an E-Trac for sale in the $400 range.

Keep Swing'in

I just saw a video from idetect who is at Detectival. He interviewed a Minelab guy who said it's faster than the deus (of course he would say that). He demonstrated it and it seemed very fast.

guess I will have to get one and compare it with the deus.

This is what I've been waiting for!!!! Simultaneous multi-frequency in a light, wireless machine! :yahoo:

I'm not convinced either. Have to wait and see it in action. My bet is that it's only fast in single frequency and the multi frequency probably gets it dogged down.

The weight is 2 pounds 3.5 ounces. It also charges and the USB cable attaches magnetically.

Anyone know how these two (equinox 600 and 800) compare to the FBS frequencies of the e trac and safari?

Not coming out until spring. So it's a vernal equinox then.

I wonder if a Sunray probe will be available for it. I'd hate to go back to the crappy old pinpointer.

Unfortunately I highly doubt it. The X1 probe is FAR superior to ANY other pin pointer I have ever seen. It cuts my recovery time in half! I heard that the reason that Sunray no longer makes the X1 for the Minelabs is that Minelab had an issue with them...but I could have my facts all wrong. But I love my X1 SO much that I bought a used one for $400 just so when my other one goes bad I have a back up (and it has broken twice and I got it fixed by Ralph at Sunray).

It had something to do with Minelab raising the price of the upper shaft for the E-Trac. At least that's the story Ralph gave. (Ralph at Sun Ray.) Ralph always bought extra upper shafts and mounted the X-1 target probe control switch to them. When a customer bought an X-1 target probe he always provided an extra upper shaft so if the target probe ever needed serviced, you could just switch the shafts out and keep using your E-Trac instead of sending your whole machine in.

When Minelab raised the price of the upper shafts to something like $100 it priced him out of the market. (According to him.) I think it also created some bad blood between him and Minelab, as he felt they did it on purpose to make things difficult for him.

I personally feel that he could have raised the price of his target probes by $100 and people still would have bought them. I sure do love mine.

I have the Deus and the 3030 and I wished for a combo that offered the best of both. 8 hours on a farm field with the 3030/17 is rough. I'm really looking forward to using the Equinox.

I hear you Bucknut! I love my Deus but I miss my Sunray probe :crying02:Why don't one of you smart people develop a hand held pin-pointer with discrimination?? I have an excuse...I'm not smart :)

Multi-frequency light weight minelab for under a G! Saw the beta testing model in action looks promising, Im guessing the after market for detectors will be abundant after this drops if they can keep up with demand 😱
