Obviously I know what it is. An 180? Spanish 2 Real with most of J. Warren's countermark across the obverse.
This was dug a couple weeks ago at a quiet colonial cellar hole in northern CT.
I just don't know who J. Warren is. Guessing a merchant somewhat local to the area. But after poking around on the interwebs, all I've figured out is my answer lies (hopefully) in one of Gregory Brunk's books, which are long out of print and worth their weight in gold apparently.
Anyone happen to have a copy of the American/Canadian or the Merchant books that could help ID who J. Warren was? Thanks!
