The last few weeks have been very hot here. I have therefore decided to go with the family to the Rhine. There you can swim well. The low water has exposed some artifacts in the area of the beach. My favorite is the French bayonet 1886, but I also found a blackout lamp from Cincinatti.

These low waters are exposing some fascinating relics! It's happening here in The States too, specifically at Lake Mead.

The French bayonette is spectacular! It looks to be in decent shape too. NICE!

Any idea how old the bottles are?

The clay bottles are for healing mineral water around 1890-1900. The glass bottles are beer bottles from before the 2nd World War. Then there is a bit of pottery from the Middle Ages and the Roman period.

That's amazing Menzl !! That bayonet is in beautiful condition for being outdoors for so long, and even the bottles and pottery shows such a wide range of history being exposed.

Yes, the low water is a good thing for us but another problem for the economy. The ships can hardly get through. I have been waiting for tools and pipes for the water supply for 8 weeks. On the picture you can see the Siebengebirge. You surely know it from the fairy tale of the 7 dwarfs. The castle on the hill is the Drachenfels. Where Siegfried killed the dragon.

Yes, this Roman pottery is often found here. Here it is called ,,terra sigillata, There were a lot of workshops. But I only take well preserved and decorated shards. The one on the picture must be from a huge vessel. I also found several iron objects that must be Roman. All without a detector. What do you say to the Blackout Lamp?
