So we had some rare, extra detecting time today and we were chompin' at the bit to hit 2 of 5 new sites we had found over the winter. After deciding which two, we set off for the first one, a tiny hole in a kinda out of the way area. We were hoping that it was unhit or lightly hit. After a couple of buttons and some other finds started to come to light, we soon realized that there were NO coins to be found there. :girlcry: Lots of buttons, but not a copper. So we re-grouped and went to the second hole which we thought was some kind of tavern or mill. Now we think it may just be a huge colonial :shocked04: What a site. It must have been one heck of a grand home with that huge center chimney. It started out slow with just a couple of buttons, so I put the old X-5 on my E Trac. Just got it back from being repaired and it was getting put through it's muddy pace lol Very close to the hole I got the signal we ET's all die for lol 12-46 at 5. This one pinpointed a bit long (oval) though, so I thought it was gonna be a colonial shoe buckle. We are desperate for coppers, since I don't even remember the last one I got :dontknow: I started to dig and out pops a copper |) |) Thank you copper God |) |) But the pinpointer says it ain't over until the threshold returns  In the hole was a second copper. :girlcry: :girlcry: :girlcry: I had to break the news to Dan ;) He was thrilled rofl Time was short today as we are going back tomorrow, so we decided to call it a day. On the way out I managed to use my incredibly accurate digging skills and almost split a copper that was in the water and between rocks :hairpulling: I thought it was a half cent, but even though it is tiny compared to the other one, I can see one cent on the back. I don't know why it is undersized, but it is not a half cent :crying02: So 3 coppers for the day and I finally got the copper monkey off of my back. Sorry, no clean pictures of the two good coppers...I am waiting to get some baking soda for the portable blaster I got. I'm leaving all buttons and coins to be practiced on. Thanks for looking and hope you all have a chance to get out soon. It was a gorgeous day!!

what no cleaned up coppers :dontknow: well that maybe a good thing ... :thinkingabout: :thinkingabout: :thinkingabout:for the coppers anyways lol rofl lol boy the weather was around 60 degrees just a beautiful spring day

well heres the first site it was very small and the first time we saw this place it was about 10 inches under snow. we really couldn't be sure it was a cellar but seeing it now with the snow melt , its a small homesite.George started popping buttons , i found 2 tombacs and a small flat button and a pewter spoon handle.

this next site is a monster colonial with center chimney fireplace , the biggest i've seen with a full cellar under the house . two pictures

i picked up five more buttons (3 gold gilted with back marks L.H.& Scovill 1811-27, L.H&S.W.Ct. ?? , Scovills 1827-40 and a musket ball and a small decorative brass piece probably the backing plate for a drawer or desk pull and some odds an ends ( shotgun shells , older pulltabs iron scraps and lead )

it wasn't a bad few hours , but it was definately George's day , congrats buddy |) :cheering: :cheering: now if i can only teach him how not to scratch a coin while digging 8/ :teasing: lol lol . hey i thought that last coin was a half cent for sure (its smaller in diameter and half as thick as the others   ) hey i'm bringing my A game tomarro pal . happydance02

Don't let that dirt fool ya lol There is a lot of quiet, picked over ground out back. Too quiet for my liking. That's why I stayed in the iron for most of the hunt. But knock yourselves out. Admission is only 10 bucks and you even get to buy us lunch too rofl Good luck and time to get them coppas :bop:
