MY 10TH COPPER IS A COUNTERFIET

saturdays hunt with Gary was about as bad a day as you can have cellar hole hunting :-\ 5 sites one button(benedict waterbury)backmark
had permission to do a large 1800's home.was exciting walking into this yard thumbsup01
left with my tail between my legs.tons of clad,16 wheaties and not one sliver of silver :confused: fill was brought in as most zincolns were 5 - 6 inches.
i stopped at a cellar hole that i been to before. a few targets here n there a key and my 1st counterfiet large cent.it's a braided hair with date chipped away.looked for it in the hole but nothing.its made of pewter.
Dan & G does this count as a copper? :confused:

You were a digging fiend lol Hope that yard has some grass left. Hope it rains soon to keep it green too rofl Them hunts can be tough. All the years of moving dirt around can bury the coins deep. As for the copper, I think you already answered the does it count? question lol Counterfeits are a great historical account of cheating the system. It has been done ever since money was invented. :yes: I ususally don't see too many large cents being counterfeited, but obviously it does happen :thinkingabout: We always count counterfeits as coppers...although yours is pewter rofl

nah ya can't even tell i was there.98 coins and one fake lc 99 coins lol.yeah i dug my butt off today!
i figured it counted so ,i took it upon myself to add it.i wish it was intact crying01 but thankful i have this much of it.you know how pewter holds up :eyebrow:

i'd give it to ya if it was a partial copper/brass or partial copper/pewter but just lead or just pewter isn't even a good fake or was meant for a token or even a poker chip.
