    Relics!

Last week I hit an area outside a standing barn (37 lic tag pic), this morning I continued hitting the dirt floor of a standing (barely) blacksmith shop. If you zoom in you can see the forge in the back room. So many nice things have come out of this floor...and they're in RIDICULOUS condition...

    Small Copper Spill

Beautiful weather here... I got out to a cellar hole this morning. In the nails I got a two copper spill. One is 1834 and the other dateless. Away from the hole I dug the IH and a couple of not pictured musket ball drops. Thanks!

    Grandson's First Hunt

My daughter took my grandson out for his first hunt today. They used the pinpointer I gave him and a spade. She asked him what he wanted to find and he said, "a coin AND a chain." Attaboy!!! He didn't find anything. I told his mom, "using a pin pointer to metal detect the earth is like trying...

    Last Week, Yesterday

Got in a hunt yesterday and one the week before. I guess the KG2 is 1752, or 1757? Wondering about that brass screw. I was going to discard it when John from Vermont said he found a similar one and it might be colonial. This brings me back to my oxknob question...were the colonials using nicely...

    Ox knobs

Hiya, I have a hypothesis that ox knobs were mostly a 19th century, into the 20th century thing. The inside screw looks difficult to produce for colonial times. Does anyone know? Thanks!

    1805, Bit, Largest Musket Ever

Last three short hunts, different sites produced the largest musket I ever dug, only my 4th bit or ring snaffle, buttons, wheats, and an 1805 Draped. The Draped was over 7in measured. 88 all directions, DeepHC 93 sens. Thanks! Edit- cleaned up draped last few pics

    Double Copper Morning

Hey everyone, I had to take this past week off from detecting but started back this morning and thrilled to find I'm starting to make progress on the Deus2. The 1723 Hibernia was at least a foot, with a 9 in coil!!! Digging a foot deep coin is rare! At least for me . Those Hibernias seem...

    Sorting Buttons Nice Finds

I heard about nipple buttons and thought they looked familiar and I thought I might have found some...so I started sorting my buttons today. No nipples BUT I did find a Barber dime, Connecticut CW era button, my Phoenix Haitian 1810-1820 military button, my 1880 Garfield and Arthur campaign...

    Took Years To Return

Maybe 10 yrs ago I found a sweet lover's bracelet for a WW2 GI. His girlfriend Viola had a sterling band inscribed with his name John E. Alto and military ID on the front and her name on the back. Even though we subscribe to ancestry.com I couldn't find living family members. After years of...

    Trime

The 1852 trime was deep, it wasn't in the first plug...I don't know exactly how deep as it was in the piles of dirt I took out of the hole. It was found with the D2, Deep HC, 9in coil. I'm guessing my Nox would have found it with the 11in coil but I may not have dug it, as it would have sounded...

    Buckles

Now that I'm retired I have time for more important things, like sorting 19th and early 20th century buckles  I didn't include colonial iron buckles or buckles I couldn't put in a group. I would have sworn I found more straighties than curvies, but I guess not. 1st pic- Straighties 2nd...

    Curse Broken! Bucket Lister!

Years ago, Dan/Del and George took me to my first cellar hole...and the first colonial thing (technically not colonial) I ever witnessed being found was a Nova Constellatio coin. Such an amazing, historical artifact! Google it! Well...I've waited a dozen years to finally find one...sure, mine is...

    Hot Soil

I took the D2 to a mineralized corn field to see what it can do. Let me first say, the curse lives...BUT, I was thrilled the way Sensitive FT handed the dirt. I was finding DEEP non-ferrous left and right...AND met up with a Nox user!! We were able to compare targets for an hour or so. I...

Spring Curse Going Strong/ D2 Comments

It's been three weeks since I found that GW button with its associated hex. As the curse goes on, the button shows more and more detail (pic below). I think it's as good as its going to get so I expect the curse to end any day now. In the mean time, attached is what I've managed to find. The...
