    GW!!!

First hunt of the year and I broke my rule, I went out with temps below 40. You people shamed me into it...and I'm glad!!! Under about 7in of snow/dirt I dug a Chicken hawk!!!! I looks exactly like the one I found a few years back. It also has a sweet shank! This one was in another town, miles...

    Cold temps?

Hi, Quick question...what's too cold for you northern hunters? These days I won't go out until it's about 39.

    Audio Nuance Multi Freq

Happy Winter, Everyone! Does anyone know if multi frequency makes us give up some audio nuance? The reason I ask is that my old T2 (in 2+) seemed better than my Nox (5 tones) at telling me target depth/size. Also, the videos I've seen of the multi frequency Deus2 don't seem to perform as well...

    Rock Tumbler

It was 16 degrees this morning so I've been having fun with my new rock tumbler Dan suggested. I thought I could date the coronet, and wanted to see if the floral pattern on the dandy button would pop. So I threw those in, with about 20 other dandies. Darned if many of the shanks didn't break...

    A Bit of Everything

I hit a public cellar hole before the snow came last week, working my 5x10 coil. You have to go snail slow with the Nox...I've heard its the same with the eTrac. Chinese Cash Coin 1966 Dog tag 1956 Tractor Reg Tag (like my 4th one lately, at different sites!) British Military Lion and Unicorn...

    1804 Half Cent

I remember 15-20 yrs ago we had a 50 degree day in Dec and we all remarked how amazing it was. Not anymore...Every Dec we have warm days now. It does help us detectorists though. :)

    Last Week (bucket lister)

I found 7 crotals last week at one site and then another turned up today in the standing barn I've been visiting. More keys too! The Prince of Wales ornament is the second I've found this year and third overall. The fancy font on the harmonica plate belies its probable 1930s age. ...and my...

    Cool Fatty Find Story

So one of my property owners shows me some coins he found in a box in his barn. This barn had previously turned up crotal bells, skeleton keys...all kinds of stuff. These coins included an 1826 Cap Bust half and 1851 large cent, both in ridiculous condition with blues and browns in the coloring...

    7 crotals!!!!

I've always thought I should have found more crotal bells...until this morning, I found seven!!:happydance01: I'm guessing there are a few more, maybe four, that I can't appreciate with my pinpointer, or detector. Does anyone know how many were on a harness? I've seen a few with 11. I may ask...

    Oldest House In My Area

Today I got permission at the oldest house in my town. Of course someone brought in topsoil in the 50s or 60s :( I still managed this 28ish mm copper with "auctori" and left facing bust clearly visible. I'd like to ID it for the home owner if someone could chime in. It looks like a CT bust...

    High GB Nox

Hey all, A few GB questions for you... 1 You all get concerned when the Nox ground balances high, say 64 to 80? 2 Ever try manual GB? 3 Why does the owner's manual say zero GB works in most places but it NEVER self-GBs at zero? 4 I don't even understand conceptually what GB is. Does a higher...

    Bucket Lister

Hey all, I was thrilled to remove a clay marble from my bucket list this week. It was found, along with the SWEET crotal, in a dirt floor of a still standing barn. That's the fourth 57 reg tag I have now. Thanks for looking!

    Keys!!

The home owners I deal with are soooo pleasant. :) At site A they gave me these keys and clock winders. They were found amongst debris in an old barn. I put the keys with some of mine in a display case. I'm not have much luck at site B. The home is a "Better Homes and Gardens" colonial built...

    Non-Dug

Hey everyone, A homeowner found a bunch of non-dug relics in their house to match what I've been turning up on the property. I thought it interesting to see what these things look like in near original condition. I was always under the impression ball buttons were super old, like late 1600s...

    Complete Shoe Buckle, Cuffs

Hi everyone, I hit two sites this morning...the first site was beautiful but the ferns were still bothersome. The second site produced one of the best shoe buckles I've ever found. :loveit: The pin is brass and the workings still move. To top it off, a complete colonial cuff. I used my trusty...
