Complete 1600's silver washed Trifid spoon!

Hi everyone, Got out with Dave Wise (Heavymetalnut) this past Sunday. It was a beautiful day to be out in the woods. Finds were very scarce but I pulled up my very first complete, silver washed, Trifid spoon from the 1600's. It also has a touch mark from a spoonmaker of, possibly, three spoons...

    Found A Very Cool Ring

That is an awesome ring. I have never seen one before. I dug this small locket years ago and always thought it would have been used for a similar purpose as your ring, perhaps for a sweetheart or wife.

1845 Half Dime! My oldest US Silver coin!

Got out yesterday with Danny LaMontagne for some colonial cellar hole digging. We hiked for six miles and, wouldn't you know it, I made my best find at the furthest point in the hike! I found an 1845 Seated Liberty Half Dime. It's now my oldest US Silver Coin and only the second Half Dime I have...

Late 1700's Bale Seal from English Cloth Merchant found in the colonies!

I actually got lucky in the identification part. Dave Wise dug one of these up several years. He only found the "front" of the seal but his lettering is all there. Here is a pic of the one Dave dug up.

Late 1700's Bale Seal from English Cloth Merchant found in the colonies!

I had been waiting on a nice relic to pose with this map. I got out with Danny LaMontagne and Dave Wise this past Sunday for some colonial cellar hole digging. Danny had the hot coil and made some finds that make you "green" :envious:! I have found many bale seals in the past but they were all...

    Ugly Chicken!!!!

Went back with Danny to Danny's GW site yesterday. I got a couple of nice cuff links including one with a stone. I also got ANOTHER 1789 George Washington Inaugural button. It's almost complete but folded over on itself flat. You can see the head of the Eagle and the leg holding the arrows in...

    The Cellar Hole of Dreams!

I still can't believe it happened even though the evidence is sitting right next to me on my desk. Yesterday, Danny and myself, along with two other friends(Dave and Jim), hit a couple of cellar holes on a nice cool day in June. It would have been my Father's 85th Birthday. I think he may have...

Back in Wisconsin. Short hunt, cool finds!

By the way, I see a little gilt on your button. I cleaned this one with CLR and brought out the gilt. I would ask Danny (Del) for his advice on whether to try it on your button, or not.

Child's size, complete, brass shoe buckle and other goodies!

Got out with Danny (Del) and Dave this past Sunday and again with Danny on Thursday. Sunday, I found a late 1600's William III Half Pence and a very nice late 1700's child's size, complete, brass shoe buckle! :shocked03: On Thursday, I found my first King George II Hibernia Copper! A few more...

    My first Connecticut Militia button!

I thought I would share some photos of my last few hunts with Danny (del). I have found several firsts over the past month including my first Connecticut Militia button, first Large Cent with a counterstamp and my first keg tap!

Cast copper-alloy double loop trapezoidal buckle with lobed protrusions!

The tongue is so fragile that I'm not even going to attempt to treat it with electrolysis. It actually snapped under light pressure. I gave the tongue a very light brushing with Rustoleum Rust Reformer which I hope will slow it down from turning into dust. I debated about whether to try to save...

**UPDATED** 4th time hunting musket ball hill... Awesome relics!

I absolutely love the watch winder! I think we may have dug up the same buckle. I found this one a couple of weeks ago.

Cast copper-alloy double loop trapezoidal buckle with lobed protrusions!

 Got out Thursday with Danny for some colonial detecting. The find of the day for me was a very early buckle. This design is dated to c1620 - 1680 in Whitehead. It is a cast copper-alloy double loop trapezoidal buckle with lobed protrusions on either end of the strap bar. That's a...

The Coin, The Relic, and The Button! Epic Day!

Got out with Danny LaMontagne for an epic day yesterday! It doesn't happen often but I dug The Relic, The Coin, and The Button! Three out of three ain't bad!!! Danny and I met at our usual time (dark thirty) and proceeded to hike into our sites. I would say that we arrived at the first...

We hit a little hot spot on Sunday!

Got out with Danny for a little colonial cellar hole digging on Sunday. It was a beautiful day to detect. It started out chilly but the finds warmed us up really quick after we hit a little hot spot! Danny tore it up with the "Smokewagon DFX." I made a few good finds myself, including, my very...

    Back to the future!

For the past two weekends I have been using the Garrett AT Gold on my hunts with Danny. The first week was the Frog Strangler and I did very well that Sunday. I use the AT Gold in the rain because the White's MXT is not waterproof. Well, it wasn't raining this past Sunday and I chose the AT Gold...

Western & Eastern Treasures Find of the Year!

The Massachusetts Pine Tree Shilling that I found last year with Danny LaMontagne was selected as one of the Finds of the Year by Western & Eastern Treasures Magazine. My coin also made the cover of the magazine. I get my subscription online, but I have a funny feeling that our local Barnes...

    Frog Strangler!

I love when some of the coins and relics come out of the ground with that hard, dark green, patina. It makes cleaning them so much easier and the eye appeal is stunning. The obverse of my Heller is not too bad. Here's a screen shot of what the reverse would like if it was in a little better shape.
