    Buckle, Copper, Relics

I think it's definitely a crown on that copper. I can see the same ball at the top with a cross under it, and the same plumes. Very similar but not exactly the same as the one on the right here. I personally don't see any designs from a large cent.

    Buckle, Copper, Relics

I think that copper shows the top of a crown, which makes me think it may some kind of Irish Hibernia. Nice hunt, Drew! :clapping:

    Who is that?

Tim, I think that is a lid off of an old tube of Mennen's shave cream. I think the man depicted is Gerhard Mennen. Here are some old ads that show some examples:

    Saturday Silver

I got out for about three hours on Saturday afternoon at a private residence. Nothing to write home about, but it was fun seeing those silver coins in the dirt. I also found a sterling silver Odd Fellows Rebekah Lodge pendant.

From the same 1700's site as my knee buckle,

It reminds me of the handle part of this winder I found recently. I guess it's some kind of clock winder maybe? Part of it has corroded away. Does yours look like the stem may have broken off? Does it have a hole in it that is clogged with dirt?

Return to Indian River...Old Silver, Fake Silver, Old Copper...and a Mystery!

You guys have really outdone yourselves! What an incredible group of finds! Diane got a really old 1818 Large Cent, and you got an 1836 Half Dime! :wow: Even with the nibble missing from the edge that is a terrific coin. It gives it character. :thumbsup01: I agree with you about the...

Old Farm House Indians, Silver Spill, Relics

Yesterday after I work I detected an old farm house with a new detecting buddy. The house was built in 1914 but the owners told us an older house had previously been on the same spot and burned down. The old brick detached kitchen still remains from the original house. We hit this site for...

    Has me stumped...

Thanks for all of the suggestions, I really appreciate the help! I think I have this one figured out. Although I couldn't find an exact match, I think it is a latch for an old ice box. Here's one currently on eBay that is very similar to mine...

    Has me stumped...

It doesn't really appear to be broken. There is a crack in it though, like it was bent too far. It also has weird serrations on one end.

    Has me stumped...

This one has me stumped. I found it this past Saturday. It appears to have been nickel plated at one time. There are some numbers stamped on the back but I can't quite make them out. Might be 2883? Any ideas?

Couple V Nickels and a Barber Quarter, Relics

Since the days are getting longer I now have a couple of hours to hunt after work. Yesterday I got permission at an old farm house just down the road from us. The owners told me that somebody had detected there a few times before. I could tell that the previous detectorist had hit it pretty...

    First few hunts of 2017

Nice finds, Jeff! :clapping: The sterling item is part of the clasp from a 1920s era beaded purse.

    Token? Coin?

I don't know what it is, but I found one back in 2012. Here's mine: Here's the thread where we tried to figure out what it is: http://www.americandetectorist.com/forum/showthread.php?9427-More-Indians-plus-a-Barber-at-the-old-park-on-Cinco-de-Mayo It's a head scratcher! Mine is in rough...

Check out this video - Spill of EIGHT Spanish Silver Coins!

The kind of spill we all dream about, eight Spanish silver coins from the 1700s and a Matron Head Large Cent all in one hole. Incredible! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7UzCU_YFdE Warning: Mild profanity in the video.

    Snow Call !

The current view out my window: Oh, did I mention that my brother got me permission to hunt these two properties? The first one is supposedly the oldest remaining home in town. It dates from the 1860s. The other is from around 1900 on a large corner lot. We are going to hit both of them...

    Great weekend! Bucket Lister!

Anyone have an idea of what this object is? I'm stumped.

    Great weekend! Bucket Lister!

Is it a scale weight? I thought it was a drain stopper. LOL It is slightly tapered and it is hollow. The padlock does not have any marking other than the number "5" on the hasp and the letters "AT, PD, DR". It is oddly shaped, I had never seen one like it either. This was my 16th...

    Great weekend! Bucket Lister!

I was able to get out on both Saturday and Sunday this weekend. On Saturday I hunted two local home sites. At the first I found a neat pocket spill: 1942 Walker, 1944 Merc and a 1948 Nickel. At the second site I only found 3 wheats and an 1896 Indian Head. Today I went to Flora, Illinois to...
