    1st post-golf course silver

A 2 hour trip to a local park got me my 1st silver in a month. And it was under a root so even that wasn't easy. Also got a 1920 wheat and my oldest IHP from 1882 in the same hole. Also a gift from the leprechauns :envious::envious: (those are some scary leprechauns). Steve (Noxman) hunted this...

    Golf course still producing...

...but the end is getting near. I met up with Al today for another crack at the course. The grass is growing and swinging is tough. We covered a lot of new areas but all I could manage was a 42 Merc, 4 wheats (oldest was 1927) and my second Ballantine beer ball marker. Al got 5 more wheaties in...

More silvers and relics at the golf course The

My golf league cancelled our 1st day of golf due to some unbelievable rain the day before but I ended up at a golf course anyway with Al, Steve and Drew. Drew had a nice seated dime before I even got there, not far from where we park. So I decided to check out the area where we parked and...

Relic day at the golf course

I guess my silver streak finally ended but I found the old door hinge and big soup spoon in same area as my reale and Al's capped bust half dime. The spoon has hints of silver plate on it. Al was leaving as I pulled in and said he got a Merc. Steve went back to his sweet spot and got a sterling...

Wednesday at the golf course with Al

Finally a nice day to dig up the golf course...50 degrees and sunny with no wind. We keep going the same areas and coins and relics keep popping up. Yesterday's finds were a 1926 Merc, 1953 and 1962-d Rosies and 2 wheats (1939 and 1952-d). And I got the Buffalo nickel I was looking for for a...

    More golf course finds

I just managed to get my silver coin to keep from getting skunked but it took awhile. Also got the little military cuff button and 10 pretty toasted wheaties, 3 were in the same hole as the quarter. I also picked up 6 or 7 golf balls today! Al's 1/2 dime stole the show. Steve got a 43...

Golf course produces my oldest silver coin

I met up with Al again this morning and I was fortunate enough to find this 1783 1/2 reale, to date my oldest coin, silver or otherwise! And I finally got a silver quarter there, near where Al scored his seated and Barber quarters last week, and 3 wheaties. Also found the prerequisite buckle and...

How do I follow Al's post? Here goes...

Another hunt with Al and Steve...this golf course is awesome! The 4 Mercs are 35, 36, 40s and 41d. The Rosie is 1952. The gilt button matches the one I found there last week ( the greenie) exactly. The Croatal bell is actually only half there, I thought I'd show you the good half. A buckle, a...

Another 1850s House & Another Good Hunt

This is one I found a few years ago. Must have been the thing to do in the 1840's like cow tipping or streaking lol. Nice hunt!

Large cent from the golf course

Yesterday's hunt with Al and Steve produced this undated large cent from about 10" deep. The little bottle marked "Pineoleum" dates back to early 1900's. I found it at a different site. A small amount of the rubber seal was still attached. The best thing about hunting this golf course is the...

    Old ballfield silver

Went back to a ballfield I had success at last year and found the little sterling ring, a worn 1919 Merc, 1886 I.H. (My oldest), 4 wheaties (oldest was 1912) and almost 5 bucks in clad. Now if I could get the pics from going sideways on me I'd be all set!

Golf course hunt with Al and RobW

Took a ride up Rt 10 to Mass. to meet up with Al(Aloldstuff) and my new friend Rob W. to hunt some more fairways at the closed golf course. This place is full of buckles! Round lead object has a scripted "M" on front and 4 prongs on back. Anybody know what it is? Small button was made by Ives...

Golf course hunt with Al and Drew

Had the pleasure of meeting both Al (Aloldstuff) and Drew (Oxshoedrew) and hunting a golf course soon to be plowed under for new homes that Al secured permission to hunt. Everybody found silver and other goodies ( see Al's post for pictures because for some reason I'm having trouble posting pics...

    Temperance token

Found this at 8 inches at 1848 house, research shows it was made from 1830-1860. It's gilted brass and I thought it was a nice old coin. Still pretty cool.

Good weekend of detecting, big silver X 2

The 1945-d Walker was found at my father-in-law's neighbor's yard. The 1942 Romanian 200 lei coin (which is 83.5 % silver and a bucket-lister lol), the 1920 Merc and the Old Lace pattern silver spoon, produced from 1939-2007 and my first complete spoon (I found the stem half once) were found at...

    Spent Sunday at the library

I spotted a library with a tiny backyard in Hartford about 2 months ago and just got to it today. The first coin out of the ground was the Barber and it was only down an inch.

    A few different finds

Saw a small park in my travels and stopped in. No silver but I found a 1984 one pound coin, 1900 IH, a half dollar sized flat button, an old barrette and a few wheaties.

    19th hole silver

I was on my way home from golf today and stopped at a tiny park in the middle of town I've gone by hundreds of times, every time saying to myself there's no way anything good is left there. Wrong again. Found my first ever Merry Widows tin, a neat pin, a 1939 Washington and a buck and a half in...
