    Park Project Nets Four Silver

This past Tuesday my uncle and I planned to make a day of it. I texted Jeff (Firefighter43) to see if he could join us. With the weather a little iffy and our last minute change of plans it didn't work out to meet up but my uncle and I ended up making a day of it anyhow. Jeff ended up going solo...

More finds from the Ballfield project

I spent about two hours last night back at the ballfield and a little more than an hour tonight. Here is my previous post showing the hunting site: http://www.americandetectorist.com/forum/index.php?topic=14428.msg151473#msg151473 I found a variety of different wheat cents, IH's, silver dimes...

Two Hours at a Baseball Field project

I found this torn up baseball field Friday evening on my way home from work. I spent about two hours there this weekend and found 11 wheat cents, a 1939 Merc, a 1950 Rosie, and a whole pile of trash not shown. I am going to try and hit this project very hard in the next week or two since I have...

    Sidewalk/Street Project - Two Hours = 9 Keepers

I keep monitoring a street project in town. This is in a very commercialized part of town so there is not a lot of good dirt so far. A few weeks ago I found a Barber quarter, a sterling WWII pin and some wheat cents, but that has been about it. I drove by on Thursday and noticed they pulled two...

    Elephant Button and Jewelry/Pin

Any thoughts on what these are and their approx age? They were found at a park construction project, the park dates to the 1880's. The elephant button is about the size of a penny and the pin about the size of a quarter.

I Love & Hate This Park!

Since we recently got some decent rain and the nights are getting cooler, the parks are huntable again! I went to an old and very trashy park yesterday for a short hunt. I worked a very small area about 4 x 8 feet between two old trees and got this trash and a nice 1882IH at about 7 inches. I...

    III Cent Nickel Piece

Well, I think this is about as good as she is going to get, and I cannot get a date on it, ugh! Oh well, what a thrill to find it though!

    Last Eight Weeks of Tearouts

Well, I am in a bit of a holding pattern while the current projects are finished up and I wait for more projects to start. Here are coins found over the past eight weeks at a number of sidewalk and street construction projects. A couple of firsts for me were the III cent nickel piece and the...

This is why I hunt construction projects when I can....

Four great videos with some real cool finds here. I don't watch a lot of youtube videos but a friend emailed me the link to these four videos because he knows I like construction projects. I thought the videos are pretty well done. AMAZING metal detecting in OLD virgin ground!!!

Street Project = III Cent Nickel Piece

I was out for a short hunt today and made a find which I think is a great find and a first for me. I found a three cent nickel piece! I cannot get a date on it, but we'll see as I clean it further. I also found a toasted IH and three wheat cents, 1916, 1919, 1950S.

Short Tearout Hunt in a more modern neighborhood - 2x silver

Had to run an errand today into a part of town I do not get as often as some others. I knew they were tearing out the street and sidewalk there, but thought the project would be long over with. I drove by anyway just to check it out, and low and behold......man look at all that dirt on those...

First Silver Quarter of the Year & Sterling Military Pin

I was out for a very short hunt to hit some spots at a street/sidewalk tearout (You all know, where else would I be out MDing!). I got a nice signal that I thought was a wheat or IH and it turned out to be a wheatie. Stepped over about one foot and bam laying right near the surface underneath...

    My birthday card!

When I was a kid my grandma would always send me a birthday card with the appropriate number of pennies taped in to the card. Following up on that tradition my family recently made this birthday poster card for me with 40 pennies for my 40th birthday!

Tearouts Slowing Down? Nope - A first for me from my wantlist (x2)!

I went back to one of the tearouts where I have found some very old IH's and a shield nickel. They had torn out a fresh stretch of some old concrete and was glad to see that and quickly went to work. I managed to pull out my first, not one, but two 2 Cent pieces! I also found an 1888 V Nickel...

The Last Five Weeks of Tearouts

I thought I would put together a picture summary of my last five weeks of street tearout project hunting. These are mostly just coins, in addition, I found a whole lot of trinkets, relics, old brass, etc. No real long hunts here, just a lot of short 1/2-2 hour hunts here and there as they move...

Sidewalk/Street Project - Lots of targets and silver

My uncle and I hit a street project last week Friday for about four hours. I went down one side of the street, he went down the other. We ended up with totals of 15 wheats, five silver dimes, two buffalo nickels and plenty of other interesting targets with a couple tokens and some junk jewelry...

This project just keeps giving 'em up! Two IH's & misc

I did not think I was going to be able to make it out at all this weekend, but I had an opportunity on short notice for about an hour, so I went back to where I have been finding all the old coins this week. I worked some areas right in the middle of the street that had not yet been covered by...

    1864IH & Copper Ring

I got so excited with all of the other finds that I found on one street project on Aug 8th, that I forgot to show these from earlier that morning at a different project. Found an 1864IH, a marble and a copper ring that looks real old, but has no markings of any kind.
