Saw two street tearouts on vacation - Fennimore WI & New Ulm MN

If you are near either of these towns I saw some pretty good street tearouts when I was there this past weekend. Fennimore, WI is the street just north of US Hwy 18 thru town. In New Ulm, it looked awesome, about five blocks ripped out just north of downtown by the Glockenspiel tower. Good luck...

    1 Hour Street/Sidewalk Project Hunt - A Memorial & Five 1800's Coins!!

I went out this afternoon and got there just as the crews were finishing up for the day. Toy Whistle & IH's

I went to a street tearout yesterday for about an hour. This is a project I have been to many times since the beginning of July when it started. They moved some more dirt around in front of an old building and I was fortunate to be able to nab these nice old IH's, 1865, 1874, 1889 and an old toy...

    Canadian LC from sidewalk project

I am having a real tough time on cleaning this one, but I keep picking away at it and soaking it. I would really like to get a date on it, but I don't think it is going to happen.

    1877CC Seated Dime today

I made it out for a short hunt today where I have found five IH's the past two days on a street project where they have one city block all torn up in an old part of the city. Today an old silver coin finally revealed itself, my first Carson City coin!

Short Sidewalk Project Hunt = Three Old Cents, Musketballs & Big Iron

Stopped at a street work project tonight on my way home and hit it for about 45 minutes. Not a lot of old dirt to be found except in front of this little church looking building, which is where I found two IH's and a Canadian LC. The coins are soaking and I can make out 1882 and 1893 I think on...

More Street Project Finds - Shield Nickel, Token & IH

This street project started off in a good way with an 1859 fatty IH. The old coins and finds are sparse at this site, but when I find something in the way of coins they sure seem like good oldies. Here is an 1899 IH and a shield nickel with rays, date yet to be determined. Also a toasted bar...

Short Street Project Hunt = Fatty

A street project I have been waiting for all summer finally started today, and I made it there for about 40 minutes. I found three coins, a zincoln and two IH's, including an 1859 fatty, my oldest IH so far. I guess they don't get any older than that! Stay tuned as I have high hopes for this...

90 Degrees - One Field = One Coin - Big Silver

I ventured out in the 90 degree heat to a new site and was hoping for some 19th Century coinage. I managed to find one single coin during my 3hr hunt. It turned out to be a worn 1920S WLH on the edge of a field adjacent to a 1850-1960's farm home site.

    Bottles & Button

Stopped at a house demo site today, found a couple pieces of glass and a older button, probably from the 1920-40's. The little blue bottle was a cool find! The button is about the size of a dime for size reference.

    Silver @ park project

When I got out of church Sunday morning, I had a text message from matmit (from FMDF) about his dime grandslam (1876 seated, 1899 barber, 1925 merc & clad rosie), WOW! So I had about an hour Sunday evening to go, so I went over to the park project and found one silver, a 1917 Merc. I was digging...

    N. Wisconsin Construction Projects - Merrillan & Fall Creek, Wisconsin

I was up north this weekend, but no time for detecting. If you are near the Merrillan area in Jackson Co or the Fall Creek area in Eau Claire Co you better get moving. The main streets in downtown Fall Creek and Merrillan are all torn up along the respective roads. I was thru there last weekend...

    Short Park Construction Project Hunt

Been watching this park construction project all year. Little by little they keep moving dirt around. No silver yet here, but made some OK finds tonight on a short 45 minute hunt. The lead seal was especially cool to find. Looks like K V & N Ry to me. The wheats were 1919 and 1925.

    MDing Last Tuesday

Well, the hunts have been few and far between, but my uncle and I made it out last week and we both found silver and some wheats. We hit some farm field spots with nothing to show for it. Then we went over an empty lot in a small town that my uncle had gotten permission to hunt. According to old...
