So we all put our hard earned money to buy a metal detector, shouldn't we be asking ,what frequency is best suited for all around detecting, since there are several used. :->

i have found today a small tan colored of what i think is a rock,it registers as 77 on mxt and penny dime on my idx -pro.Has anyone experienced this before.It is not magnetic and the size of a penny.It was 4inches in the ground.

I have read posts about the mxt and the 6x10 coil getting good depths, i am not doing that well after purchasing the coil,I dug a 7 inch hole in the ground and placed a qter flat on the bottom of the hole and filled it in .The detector was set at 2 - +3 the detctor never saw it :crying02:

if you were to find an old silver looking ring and it was marked 800 would it be american silver thanks JIM

i have found 2 rings in one week, 1 was found with an idx-pro with a blue max coil, the other detector is an mxt with a 4x6 coil, help me to decide which detector to take on my next search for another ring. I am havin trouble deciding. :dontknow:

cladder ring and 1.50, the ring is gold, but i cant read the stamp ,it appears to be a number and the letter F . :hairpulling:

i keep getting vdi's in the high eighties for lousy 7 inch deeop rusty bottlecaps with the new mxt.Am i the only 1 with this problem, it doesn't seem to matter how much disc i use. :confused:

i have been reading about the compadre and i haven't found too many bad reviews about them, they seem to be a featureless beep and dig unit that people have great sucess with. for the price i am tempted to give one a try.what say you.

after trying several settings on the mxt ,i find that i like the setting 3 on disc and 7 on gain for most situations in the ground here in ma. I am not sure i really need to get into the plus situations unless i'm in a relatively trash free areas.am i wrong in thinkin this way. :dontknow:

went out today for an hour or so 1 qtr 2 pennies and a standing upright empty jar about the size of a jelly jar. has anyone else found empty jars,the metal lid read a solid penny signal. it was in the middle of a lawn. :confused:

anyone know what kind of metal was used and if they were a particular shape , i found a really old spoon but i can't post it right now.
