    Well we tried to hunt

Del and I tested the terrain at a cellar hole which we had done well at in the past. We were hoping for some southern exposer melting, but it appears we are about a week early. Most of the area had about 6" on average of crusty snow. I had sent in my 3030 for some updates so I had my trusty E...

    Working with Archaeologists

Most of you probably have heard that DEL and I have been working with Archaeologists for around 4 seasons now. And during this harsh winter, when I am bored I watch episodes of timeteam to get my fix . This episode in particular hits the nail on the head with what happens when...

    Other hobbies

I know we have had threads like this in the past but I wanted to start this one so some of the new members could tell us about their other interests. Everyone, please feel free to post you other addictions  This one started for me when I was very young. I liked it so much that at 13 years...

Face it. This season is over. :girlcry: Let's talk about 2015 :crying02: Here is a pic from the back yard. In the foreground you can see a path cut. This stuff will never melt fast enough for my liking.

    Bird olympics coming soon

Here is a clip that I think comes from Russia. The bottle cap looks like one of those apple juice caps. This bird is bored with winter  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OlnatTWFXF8

    It all adds up

This winter, one of my projects is to separate years of junk targets and bring them to the scrap yard. I'm about 1/2 way through that project. But today I decided to start grouping all my other relics, coins and jewelry. I started with the colonial and post colonial buttons. Sometimes finding a...

    Group relic hunt

Dan got together myself, Drew and Brandon for a birthday boy's relic hunt. Happy birthday Dan:clapping:We hit two sites and the second one was definitely better for me. A lot of shot gun shells and other junk, but I did get a good amount of buttons, a large caliber musket ball and just 3 coins...

    New kind of slug??

OK you modern hunters, I found this at a site a couple of months ago. Same site - 2 slugs. My question is: Are these 2 slugs a new type of deer slug? I have found many deer slugs (shown on right side of 1st picture), in many different shapes, but these two slugs have me stumped? They have...

    Couldn't take it any more

 They are rare aren't they. I'm not sure Dan can handle the joy of finding them. You may have hundreds of them....but did you dig them out beneath the ice?? :eyebrow: . Dan could never bring this mud home :shocked04:

    Couldn't take it any more

There is a property I have permission to detect that I did well at previously. The standing colonial was removed and I detected it a while ago with good results again. Now the bulldozers have removed top soil from a good chunk of the land. I kept wanting to go there but did not make the time...

    cellar-men get out

This is our last hunt of the year for real right? :hystericallaugh: I think it is. Was great getting out for a stress free day. Nice to see Dave again and finally meet the copper king :notworthy: Todd. I had a decent day scoring two beat coppers, a barber dime, and of all things - a war nickel...

    Dec. cellar hunt w/Coinnut

Nice pad lock. Any date on that Classic head?? It was tough going, and time flew, but I did manage to get some keepers and a whole lot of shotgun shells. Ended up with a couple of buttons, a musket ball, a 1921 Wheat and the find of the day for me is a Lesche digger (possibly the one I lost 2...
