1st silver of 2019

Can't believe we still have unthawed ground in Wisconsin but I am happy to take advantage of it. I am certain this is the 1st time I ever detected in January and certainly the 1st time I ever found a silver coin this early. The way the weather is this week I still should be able to hunt at least 1 more time this week. WD

Way to go! I've been chomping at the bit to get out with this nice weather, but working 84 plus hours a week lately hasn't allowed it. Good to see you can get out at least!

Went out Sunday morning as well (only a few wheats and bunch of clad. I cannot believe this weather. I went out more to say I metal detected in January than to actually find items. Just went to the lake and found a few wheats and hit my goal of 50 flip tops and 50 bottle caps. By the way, I had a Parks guy stop me and he was a little miffed at people detecting on the grass for he said that people were not filling holes properly and creating mud circles. I showed him my last few which I had to show him since he couldn't see them. For all of you in SE WI, please treat the ground like it is your own property!

He's off and running! :)

We're enjoying unseasonably warm weather here too, with highs in the 50s most days. We've had a TON of rain though so it is really muddy right now.

Congrats on the early season silver! :clapping:

Nice start to the year man! No way I'll ever hunt this time of year at 45N lat. Ground is frozen 12" deep or more so it'll have to wait until late March/early April.
