Another Mystery Copper

I spend two more hours at the place where I dug a bunch of keepers, including a counterfeit capped bust half. This is also the place I saw trespassers walking around with guns. Well today, towards the end of my hunt I hear them actually start shooting ...about three colonial-sized fields away:shocked02: ...but they didn't stop shooting. I have no idea what they were shooting at... I probably heard over a hundred shots. That made me want to leave quickly, but as the first shots were fired I got my coil over a copper signal...and I ain't leaving a copper signal nooo how
As I dug I was actually trying to keep a low profile so as not to get shot. I threw the copper in my pocket, first making sure it wasn't a dandy with the shank missing , then ran to my car.

Anyone know what that copper could be? I see a right facing bust that is really off-center, to the right. The back is pretty wiped.
I love skeleton keys and conestoga bells! Oh, and I was wearing orange...AND ON ST PATS DAY!!:shocked04:
PS The merc is 43 and the wheat 34 (humph odd pairing)

nice finds Drew , sorry I'm not recognizing the copper (are you sure the orientation is right?)

Orange , maybe thats why they were shooting at you !! or they had some targets set up but that would be foolish to do so on other peoples property.

With my track record with these things I'm fairly certain that the orientation is absolutely wrong

Nice finds Drew, love bells and keys too though I am yet to find one. I don't know a thing about colonial coins, sorry. But the others are nice too. What's the mint of the merc?

Thanks DOD! I don't know the mint mark...so I guess I should check it if you asked....it must mean something:lol:
I guess that copper is a William and Mary? Of course I had it the wrong way, Dan

Thanks guys....does anyone else see the back of William's head and pigtail on the second pic I posted of that coin?...although Issac does have a point....I can see the outline of a liberty cap too. Can those things be that far off center? Maybe it's an eclectic coin type

I can see the bottom of Lady Liberty's neck matching nicely with the coin you dug.

Nice key and bell too!

Well Drew...I initially thought Liberty Cap, then I thought William & Mary.......Now I don't think it is either......But my guess could change each time I look at it :)

 I completely agree Jeff every time i click on this post i seem to change my mind about the coin :needadrink::lol:

This might help....I think Issac nailed it?? Looks like the reverse is a Liberty cap?

Great finds Drew! One your last pic I'd have to agree that it's a Liberty Cap...can just make out the bottom of the wreath. In my book, that conestoga is your best find though. I have a soft spot for old bells I guess. :)

Nice finds. You stare at these toasted coppers long enough and from enough angles and you'll see Richard Nixon's head on them.
