Ball button?

Is this the top of a two piece ball button? I find these things on occasion. There is no sign of any attachment inside. Thanks everyone, Drew

it looks like one to me Drew , their notorious for the two pieces separating due to moisture seeping into the ball part , then freezing and pushing out the back part thats attached to the shank.
