Beautiful Day! Six Silvers Including 2 More Barbers

I couldn't believe it when I looked out the window this morning. Almost all of our snow melted overnight. After highs in the upper 50s yesterday I was hoping that the ground would be thawed today and it was. I went on Google maps and made a list of 6 potential parks that I had ever hunted before, and by 11:00 a.m. I was out the door.

The first park I went to was a bust. No old coins at all after about an hour, plus there were some very foul-mouthed kids there. Time to move on.

The second park was in a town about 5 miles away from the first, and this park was a little bigger. I found a wheat cent within 2 minutes of turning on my E-Trac, then a Merc and a Rosie in quick succession. Aha, maybe a decent site!

I ended up hunting this park for about 4 hours and found 7 wheat cents, 2 Barber Dimes, 3 Mercury Dimes and a Rosie. Not a lot of coin signals but enough silver to keep me interested. It was a fun day!

Here are all of my coin finds for the day:

And the keepers after cleaning:

One of the wheats was a decent looking 1909:

Six silver coins makes for a fun hunt:

Wow Tony, Good for you. Your to off to a fantastic start this year.

I wanted to get out soo bad today, I checked Weather Bugs live weather cams in the areas I wanted to go and all I saw was snow.
I'm so glad you were able to get out and find Silvers. Awesome.
:congrats:

Thanks for posting. Once again we in the northeast are in the midst of a snow storm (10" plus) so getting to see your eye candy really put a smile on my mug. Great bunch of silvers and I will agree with Digger Don, you've got a heck of a start to the new year.

It's awesome to see someone digging Tony. Like Al said, we're piling it on here (when was the last day the sun was out?). Thanks for posting vids too!

Nice collection of keepers Tony! Six silvers always makes a fun hunt! :thumbsup02:

Apparently I was thinging with a polar vortex (like you guys had last year) that it was cold and un-huntable out there. Guess even tho you can't find the colonials but you can still find the silver. We can only dig snow right now. I had to make a path for the oil delivery guy which I'll have to order sometime within a month. Just gotta take care of it now. I couldn't tell which of the new Youtube was for this hunt. Ehh.. don't need clarification tho.

Great job Tony as always, and nice 1909. 6 silvers in a 4 hour hunt...or 1.5 silvers per hour...very good rate!

Nice hunt Tony love that 1917 D Merc to bad it was a year older  nice barbers as well congrats

I no I am suffering from Cabin fever but the wheatie on the right sure looks like a '22 NO Mintmark. What is the date Tony? Great hunt by the wayWD

I'm afraid the wheatie is a common 1923, but it does kind of look like 1922 in the photo above.

Way to go! Nice finds. We'll need weather in the high 50's for about a month to thaw the ground around here. Today was the hottest day we've had in weeks at 37. Cold front coming in Friday and well have below 0 temps for several days. Color me jealous. I might hit a salt water beach tomorrow. Temps are supposed to be close to 30. It's the only place not frozen, but you have to trek over 18" of snow to get to the shore.

look at the barbers and mercs :smitten:, looks like you found some older relics too Tony that spot might produce some really old coins .
