Alec and I drove over night to Ohio this week end to do a little detecting. As soon as we get there, it starts to rain and it rained most of the day. Before you say it, The forecast was for cold and cloudy, but no rain. LOL
Anyway, The rain stopped for a while in the morning and we were able to hit a park for about 45 minutes. There were very few targets and mostly clad. I did get one repeatable signal about 8". It bounced between 12-38 & 12-41. After getting down about 9 inches, I pull out an old button with a log cabin on it. It ended up being an 1840 Campaign Button.
We didn't get a chance to detect again until later in the afternoon. We stopped at another park and Alec dug a 10 cent trade token and a 1918 Silver French 50 Centime. After that we hit a couple of houses and Alec dug a 1905 Indian and a 1935 Merc.
I dug a 1925 Buff, a 1914 Barber dime, a 1920 merc and another old button. After that it started raining again so we called it a day.
Sunday morning we decided to start home taking back roads. After a bout 45 minutes of driving, we spotted an old one room brick school house. There was a guy there doing some work. We talked for a few minutes and he told us to go ahead and give it a go. Not many signals, but I did manage to pull 2 tokens out of the same hole. About an hour later we stopped and hunted an 1840s farm house. We were told it has been hunted before but were welcome to give it a try. I dug a worn 1917 Merc and an 1890 Indian. Alec dug an 1890 & a 1905 Indian. We also dug 18 Wheat Cents all together.
After that it was time to hit the interstate and get home.
It was a great weekend hunting with my son. We had a ball!!
