Found a clever and interesting relic today

Hey Diggers,
I was back at the 1600's siege site today and found part of a coin purse. What's unique about this coin purse is that it has a latching feature I've never seen before. Most coin purses I have seen have a simple friction latch that you squeeze together between your thumb and forefinger when closing. This one has a threaded latch that when turned, tightens an internal bar which keeps the purse from being opened accidentally. I just thought I'd share that with you because I thought it was very interesting.

Very interesting design. How many change purses have you found? I have yet to find one....

Al, all I ever find is one side or even 1/2 of one side of the latching part. Never the whole thing. I've seen pictures of solid silver ones (kind of like chain mail) but I am never that lucky! This is definitely the oldest part of one I have ever found (1600's).
