GOLD Ring! Ohio hunt...

Last weekend I went down to my home town in Ohio to do some deer hunting and some detecting of course. There is a "Field of Dreams" that I have been detecting for 8 years now and have never found any gold despite digging anything and everything the last couple years. Well it happened! I dug a 10/11 signal about 8 inches down and pulled this beauty!

It has a hallmark but it is small and worn. It tests though as 18k and I am certain it is rose gold. It is the exact same color and karat as my wedding ring which is 18k rose.

Also found a cool token. Interesting shape to it. I think it was made by rolling a wheat penny in a machine similar to those at tourist attractions...just a guess though.

The other items were at another old spot in my old home town. Included are Buffs #29 and #30 for the year and a MGM token for Clark Gable and the movie "Hold your Man."

It has been a long time since I posted anything...I have had a pretty good year...just need to put things together.

Thanks for looking! Jared

Lots of great finds, Jared! That last photo is wonderful! The gold ring is awesome, but I find the tokens very interesting as well. I've never seen one of those Clark Gable tokens before. Terrific finds!

:congrats:

Any guess as to the age of that ring, Jared? I wouldn't have known if it was a W or an M
Do you see wheat penny marks still showing on that penny token?
Great job, as usual, Jared!

Thanks Drew. I think the ring could have been made in the very late 1800s but it's really hard to tell. The band it pretty thin which tells me it was worn for a long time before it was lost. And the hallmark is worn too.

The token starting out as a penny was just a guess. It does not have any faint details of whatever it originally was.
